Happiness Bank is a for purpose business that aims to inspire, educate and connect with people to help them lead more fulfilling and joyful lives.

This is achieved through a range of services such as presentations, action plans, books and one on one coaching, all designed to equip people with the tools they need to build a sustainable base of happiness.

Happiness Bank was founded by Claire Massingham.

Claire works as the sole owner and happiness advisor for the Happiness Bank.

Below is what Claire has to say about happiness and why it is her passion in life.

“I believe the most joyful life is one created and directed by me, with wellness at its core. I do this by making conscious deposits into my happiness bank account every day. It’s called investing in your happiness and living your life on purpose.

My goal is to help others to do the same because every body deserves to be happy, however not everybody finds it easy to achieve or sustain!”

So WHAT is happiness?

Happiness is not some fleeting feeling of joy but more a profound sense of a life well lived. A life well lived is not just full of joy and excitement but also sadness and fear and all the other emotions that make up our human existence. Happiness may mean different things to different people but overall it involves you being self aware, practicing gratitude, connecting with people, being realistic and looking after your body.

I am here to help you achieve sustainable happiness by consciously and proactively creating it into your life.

How can YOU do this?

Think about opening up a rainy day savings account. If you make small regular deposits into it, over time, your savings will grow. When you hit a tough time you will have a solid foundation of funds to draw from.

Happiness is just the same. If you open up a happiness account and make regular deposits into it, over time, you will build an enduring base of happiness. When you are feeling down or when life sucks you will be able to make a withdrawal knowing that you have built an enduring base of happiness to sustain you. If you keep making withdrawals without without making deposits then happiness is always going to feel like it is elusive. It will be just like an everyday bank account, make too many withdrawals without deposits and you will go into overdraft and feel like crap.

Happiness currency is gratitude, mindfulness, love, exercise, eating healthy, connecting with others, being kind not right, living on purpose, utilising your gifts and basically anything in your day that makes you feel good.

I have been married to the most amazing man, Paul, for 36 years, he is my best friend. I have two awesome sons who are 34 and 30. They both live out of home but always keep in touch and are happy to share a meal and a good bottle of red with mum and dad.  What more could a mum ask for. This is Paul and I celebrating our wedding anniversary in COVID times.

My weekends are spent catching up with my wide circle of friends, especially my girlfriends. Paul always rolls his eyes and says “so what is the social calendar looking like this weekend, where do I have to be and what do I have to do?” I think secretly he loves me organising everything, all he has to do is show up. That’s me below with my sister and two beautiful nieces doing what we love most – high tea!

High Tea

I have a wealth of life experience as a mum, a wife, a woman in the workforce, a friend, a confidant and a mentor. Through all of these experiences, and wow some of them have been tough, I have laughed, cried, loved, been lonely, depressed, angry and frustrated but most of all I have learnt and I have grown from that learning.

Three of the most challenging times in my life were coping with post natal depression, overcoming ovarian cancer and having to move my family back into my parents home when my husband was made redundant and was out of work for over 8 months. Throughout these times the two things that kept me going was repeating the mantra that “everything passes” and saying to myself how do I want to be remembered when this time has passed. Do I want to look back at and recall how I whinged, moaned and made life unbearable for everyone around me or do I want to look back with pride knowing that despite the hard times I made the best of a less than ideal situation and was able to learn and grow from it.

I love my life, I love being healthy and most of all I love hanging around happy people. I believe that is why I am here, so that I can help you become healthier and happy and enjoy a life that you deserve.

So that’s me in a nutshell –uncomplicated, easy going, friendly and always wondering what is in me that I can give to you.
